Antarctica - Drake Strait

Drake Passage, also referred to as the Drake Strait in Danish, is a vast expanse of water spanning approximately 1,000 kilometers in width. It lies between the southern tip of South America and the continent of Antarctica. This maritime passage owes its name to the renowned English explorer, Sir Francis Drake. The reputation of the Drake Passage is formidable, as it is notorious for its wild and turbulent conditions. This turbulence is attributed to the convergence of several major world oceans at this point, and the absence of any intervening landmass to mitigate the sea's violence results in the formation of particularly fierce waves and weather patterns.
