Costa Cruises

Costa Cruises

Given Costa Cruises' Italian origins, they focus a lot on the European market - particularly the Mediterranean. Costa Cruises is one of the few companies that operates ships in the Mediterranean all year round. Therefore, it is also possible to sail with Costa Cruises during the Easter holidays and over Christmas and New Years just in the Mediterranean, but Costa Cruises also offers cruises to several areas in the rest of the world. The popular company sails from Copenhagen to the Norwegian Fjords and around the Baltic Sea to the Baltic countries, and a few years ago it started offering trips to one of the newer cruise destinations departing from Dubai.

Costa Cruises is a very child-friendly company, with room for children and always good prices for children. So in many ways Costa Cruises is one of the best choices for families.

Family-friendly and fun for kids

Costa Cruises is an excellent choice for families with children of all ages. On board, you’ll find dedicated kids’ and teens’ clubs, creative activities, child-friendly meals, and staff experienced in caring for the youngest guests. With entertainment such as pool parties, playgrounds, and theme days, children are guaranteed a memorable experience.

Attractive kids’ prices

Costa offers great prices for children – and during certain periods, kids sail completely free when traveling with two adults. Regular promotions make it easier for families to go on vacation without breaking the budget. With transparent pricing and flexible packages, it’s easy to plan a cruise that suits the whole family.

Highly competitive prices

When the sun goes down, the ships truly come alive with shows, live music, and plenty of dancing. There’s something for everyone – from theater performances and live bands to theme parties and karaoke. The entertainment is professionally produced, creating a festive and engaging atmosphere every night.

Italian design and style

The ships in the Costa fleet are decorated with an elegant and consistent Italian style that creates an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere on board. From marble and art to colorful details and atmospheric lounges – everything is inspired by Italian culture, design, and joy of life. It feels like traveling on a floating piece of Italy.

Excursions for the whole family

Costa offers a wide selection of excursions tailored for both adults and children. Discover everything from culture and nature to play and fun discoveries – stress-free and with safe transport. Many excursions are designed with families’ needs and pace in mind, ensuring everyone gets the most out of their days ashore.
Dining

Full board is always included in the price. This means that at least one buffet restaurant and one à la carte restaurant are included. On Costa Cruises, as with all other cruise lines, meals are included – breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The price also includes water, tea, and coffee from self-service stations.

In the à la carte restaurant, you choose in advance between two different dining times: 1st seating at around 6:00 p.m. and 2nd seating at around 8:30 p.m.

It is also possible to visit the ship’s specialty restaurants for an additional fee.

Interior
The décor on board Costa's ships is characterised by lots of colour and light, and their Italian origins are reflected in the charming and lively atmosphere on board.
Entertainment

There are plenty of activities on board Costa Cruises' ships. For example, you can show off your talents on the football pitch, watch a football match at the sports bar or take a swim in the pool. Throughout the day and evening, there will be a variety of entertainment from Costa Cruises' dedicated entertainment team, organising everything from music quizzes to bingo.

In the evenings, you can be entertained in the ship's theatre, which presents a new show every night, try your luck in the casino or dance the night away at the ship's disco.

Accommodation

All cabins are beautifully decorated with plenty of modern amenities such as TVs and hairdryers. When choosing an exterior cabin with a window or balcony, be aware that the cabin might have an 'obstructed view', which means that parts of the view will be blocked by a lifeboat.

You also have the option to choose a Samsara category cabin, which means you'll have a cabin that is located near the ship's spa area. Please note that a cabin in the ship's spa area does not mean free access to treatments.

Internet

It is possible to purchase internet access on board all Costa ships with the following packages:

Full Internet Package
Allows unlimited internet access for the entire duration of the cruise.

Social Package
Dedicated to those who cannot help but interact on social media, chat or share photos with friends on holiday. Includes access to the following social networks and services: WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, WeChat, Twitter, LinkedIn, Threema, Pinterest, Tumblr, TikTok, Snapchat, Kakao, Telegram.

Whatsapp Package
Dedicated to those who want to stay in touch via Whatsapp with friends even on holiday, sharing photos and voice messages.

Disability accessibility and special needs

All Costa cruise ships have accessible cabins with wider doors and no thresholds to ensure maximum comfort. In addition, there are multiple elevators on all decks, allowing guests to move freely around the entire ship. In many areas, such as the theater, there are reserved seats for guests with disabilities.

If you suffer from, for example, a gluten allergy, please inform your waiter in the restaurant on the first day so accommodations can be made for your meals. We also recommend that you notify MyCruise when booking so we can inform Costa Cruises in advance.

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, please read more under practical information about the rules for traveling on a cruise while pregnant before booking your trip.

Tips
Mandatory gratuities are included.
Smoking

Smoking on board the ships is restricted, however, there are designated areas where smoking is allowed, such as on one side of the pool deck, so non-smokers can easily avoid the smoke.

Onboard Costa Cruises, as of 2020, smoking is still allowed on the balcony, ask the cabin steward for an ashtray and never throw butts over the side of the ship as it can be a potential fire hazard.

Dresscode

During the day, casual clothing is recommended on board the cruise ship and on excursions. In the evening, the dress code is generally informal, but it is recommended to bring a blazer or a shawl. Costa Cruises hosts a “Captain’s Dinner” on all their cruises, where wearing a suit and dress is considered appropriate.

Costa Cruises also often organizes themed evenings such as White Night or Italian Night, where many guests enjoy dressing in all white or in the colors of the Italian flag. It is entirely up to each guest whether they wish to join in or simply change into their usual smart evening attire.

Kids and teens

On board Costa's ships, there will always be several different clubs for children and young people of all ages, where they can be looked after or find new playmates. The staff can speak english.

Safety
Safety on board Costa Cruises' ships is top priority. The ships are all equipped with several state-of-the-art lifeboats, and there are life jackets in all cabins as well as an emergency supply in various locations on the ship. All staff on board the ships are trained in safety, and all guests are required to participate in a safety drill before departure.

With Costa Cruises you have the opportunity to register in the CostaClub, which offers a lot of travel benefits. There are several different types of membership, all of which offer greater or lesser benefits and discounts. If you are a member of CostaClub, always remember to provide your membership number(s) when purchasing cruise trips on MyCruise. Read more about C|Club here.

Ship classes help categorize individual ships. Cruise ships categorized in the same ship class are typically of equal size and many of the characteristics of individual ships are common to all cruise ships in the ship class. Sometimes the cruise ships are almost identical, with the only difference being that they sail different routes.

Excellence Class
Excellence Class is a newer ship class from Costa Cruises, where modern design and innovative solutions go hand in hand with the cruise line’s Italian DNA. The ships are designed with a focus on experiences, variety, and comfort, with entertainment, dining, and public spaces all created within new, open settings. Here, you’ll find a vibrant and experience-rich atmosphere combined with stylish surroundings and a wide range of facilities for both adults and children.
Diadema Class
Costa's Diadema Class only includes Costa Diadema, named after the Italian word for tiara. Costa Diadema has nearly everything one could desire in a cruise ship, offering a blend of modern and classic elements.
Concordia Class
The ships in the Concordia class have all the special facilities that are part of Costa Cruises' signature. Shared among the ships are, for example, the 6,000 square meter Asian-inspired Samsara Spa with a pool area and the fascinating theater.
Luminosa Class
The ships are adorned with inspiration from the world of music, and the vibrant and colorful interior defines the charming atmosphere onboard. In the evenings, there are ample opportunities to enjoy a movie in the 4D cinema or to be enchanted by lights, colors, and choreography in the three-story grand theater.
Fortuna Class
The atmosphere aboard the cruise ships in the Fortuna class is charming and lively, and the ship's numerous bars, lounges, and restaurants are designed with inspiration from colorful Italy. The ships are large and modern, equipped with all the amenities one could desire as a cruise traveler.
