Ecuador - Galapagos - Isla Espanola - Punta Suarez

Isla Espanola, situated in the southeastern corner of the Galapagos, is one of the uninhabited islands characterized by its stark black lava rocks and exceptional birdlife. This island is the exclusive breeding ground for the majestic Galapagos albatrosses, which visit every year between April and December. For bird enthusiasts, Isla Espanola is an absolute must-visit destination, teeming with a diverse array of unique avian species found nowhere else on Earth. On the island's western side, near Punta Suarez, you can witness the famous "Soplador Blowhole," a natural formation in the volcanic rocks that can spray water up to a remarkable height of 25 meters.

Punta Suarez, also known as Suarez Point, is among the most sought-after sites in the Galapagos and is well worth exploring. Your journey commences at the very shoreline, where you'll encounter vibrant Sally Lightfoot Crabs, playful sea lions, as well as the distinctive red and green iguanas, commonly referred to as Christmas Iguanas due to their colorful appearance. As you progress along the trail, you'll encounter the indigenous Espana mockingbirds, which call the island home. The terrain may become somewhat challenging at times, but the trek is incredibly rewarding, offering breathtaking vistas of the surrounding waters when you reach Punta Suarez Blowhole.

Climate
The Galápagos Islands, located on the equator, are a year-round destination. The archipelago experiences two distinct seasons. The warmer season runs from December to May, characterized by ample sunshine and clear skies. The slightly cooler season spans from June to November due to southerly winds that usher in the cold waters of the Humboldt Current, resulting in cooler sea temperatures.
