Ecuador - Galapagos - Rabida
Isla Rábida, formerly known as Jervis Island, is one of the Galápagos Islands situated in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 1000 km off the coast of Ecuador. This island, located just south of the considerably larger Santiago Island, boasts a landscape characterized by cliffs, volcanic craters, red sand beaches, and a saltwater lagoon. Rábida Island is uninhabited by humans but is home to a variety of wildlife, including flamingos, pelicans, sea lions, and many other species.
Worth seeing
Red Sand Beach: The north side of the island features a striking red sand beach where visitors can typically observe sea lions, iguanas, and pelicans. Behind the beach, there is a saltwater lagoon that flamingos use as a feeding chamber and breeding area.
Climate
The Galápagos Islands, with their equatorial location, are a year-round destination. Warm Season (December to May): During this period, you can expect plenty of sunshine and clear skies. It's the warmest time to visit. Cooler Season (June to November): This season brings slightly cooler temperatures due to southerly winds that bring the cold Humboldt Current northward, resulting in colder sea water. Both seasons offer unique experiences, and the choice of when to visit depends on your preferences and interests.
