Cape Verde - Porto Novo

This delightful African city is situated on the island of Santo Antão in Cape Verde. As the most populated town on the island, it is home to around 10,000 inhabitants. Originally established as a fishing village called Porto dos Carvoeiros, the town's port was inaugurated in 1962 and underwent renovations in 2014. Before the existence of the harbor, ships had to anchor outside the city, and passengers and goods were brought ashore in small boats.

Worth seeing
The island's highest point is the Coroa volcano, which defies traditional volcano appearances. The interior of the volcano is now covered in vibrant green fields and trees, presenting a wild and unique sight that should not be missed. It offers an extraordinary perspective that is not commonly encountered.

Explore the local small towns scattered around the island, providing an opportunity to engage closely with the local population, experience the culture, and admire the beautiful architecture that graces the cityscape. On the opposite side of Coroa, there's a small town adorned with colorful terraces filled with plants and flowers, creating a hillside that resembles a collection of beautiful, colorful jewels.

In Porto Novo, a must-experience is the 'Porto-Novo-Ribeira Grande Road,' a scenic route along the water. This road offers panoramic views of the water and the inland landscape, providing a fantastic way to explore the beauty of Porto Novo and its surroundings.
