Ny Aalesund, a Norwegian settlement located on Spitsbergen in Svalbard, is home to approximately 30 residents. Situated on the southern side of Kongsfjord, the town is owned and managed by Kings Bay, facilitating continuous research conducted by 19 institutions from 11 countries. Initially founded in 1917 by Peter Brandal and Kings Bay for mining endeavors, the town transitioned to tourism and fishing in 1933, which proved more successful.
