Sweden - Gothenburg

When sailing in from Skagerak through the Skagerrak near Gothenburg, you'll notice the many islands, which have been a paradise for fishermen since early times. Gothenburg is Scandinavia's fourth-largest city with 550,000 inhabitants and is now Sweden's most café-friendly city, especially within the city ramparts on Vasagatan and Linnégatan where numerous cafés are located.

Worth seeing
In the city center, the oldest part of Gothenburg features Gustav Adolfs torv and Stora Hamnkanalen, the only remaining part of the original canal system. Historic buildings like the old arsenal Kronhuset and the church Kristina Kirke from the 17th century are also found here.

Liseberg, the Nordic region's largest amusement park, opened in 1923 and attracts around three million visitors annually. The Liseberg tower offers an overview of the entire city. The park operates from April to September.

Ny Älvsborg Fortress, likely the best-preserved fortress in Sweden, is recommended for a visit. It was attacked during the war with Denmark in 1717-1719 but remained unoccupied. The boat trip to the fortress includes a historical dramatized tour.

Climate
The climate is very similar to that of Denmark, with mild temperatures throughout the year. Summer months, from May to September, typically range from 16-20 degrees, while winter rarely sees many minus degrees.
