Japan - Kanmon Straits

The Kanmon Straits, or Kanmon Strait, is a narrow channel that separates two of Japan's main islands, Honshu and Kyushu. Throughout history, this canal has played a crucial role in transportation and trade. The Kanmon Strait has been witness to significant battles, including the 1863 conflict against the United States, a pivotal event that led Japan to open up to the Western world. Remnants of this battle, such as cannons, can still be observed at the harbor in Shimonoseki.

As you navigate through the strait, it may evoke the sensation of sailing through a city divided in two. On either side of the water, you'll encounter bustling cities adorned with vibrant life and color. Adding to the scenic journey is the magnificent Kanmon Bridge, a captivating sight that enhances the beauty of your voyage.
