Bermuda - Hamilton

Bermuda is renowned for its pink sand beaches, diving opportunities, and extensive green golf courses. Despite its small size and a population of around 1,800 in the capital of Hamilton, the island has a rich history that offers numerous historical curiosities. The city boasts countless picturesque old houses and has been under British rule for an extended period, maintaining its status as an overseas territory. Interestingly, Bermuda is said to have more forts per square kilometer than any other place on Earth.

Worth seeing
Barr Bay Park, located in Hamilton, offers a stunning view of the city's harbor. The park's name pays homage to the Barr family, residents of the town since the American Revolution in the 18th century. This scenic spot provides a peaceful setting to unwind, yet it holds a poignant connection to the African slave trade. In 1835, during a powerful storm, the American ship Enterprise, carrying 78 slaves from Virginia to South Carolina, sought refuge and anchored in the bay. However, it's worth noting that slavery had been abolished throughout the British Empire, including Bermuda, in the previous year of 1834. Customs authorities denied the American ship permission to continue until the slaves had gained their freedom.
