Arica is situated in the northernmost part of Chile, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, and is located just 18 kilometers from the border with Peru. The city is home to approximately 196,000 residents and is renowned for its safety, tranquility, and consistently pleasant weather. Due to its delightful climate, Arica is often referred to as "The city with eternal spring."

Worth seeing
El Morro de Arica: This prominent hill overlooks the port and offers panoramic views of the city, the harbor, and the beach. At the summit, you'll encounter an imposing statue of Jesus, as well as a war monument and a war museum. While it's possible to hike to the top, it's recommended to take a bus or taxi if you're not equipped with proper footwear.

Chungará Lake: If you have ample time, consider a trip to Chungará Lake for a stunning natural experience. Situated at the base of the 6,348-meter-high Parinacota volcano, this lake ranks among the world's highest. It's located just under 200 kilometers from Arica.

Catedral de San Marcos de Arica: While in the city, make sure to visit the architecturally striking Catedral de San Marcos de Arica, an impressive church designed by Gustave Eiffel, the same visionary behind the iconic tower in Paris.

Climate
As its nickname suggests, "The City of Eternal Spring," Arica enjoys sunny weather throughout the year. Consequently, there are minimal temperature fluctuations, whether you visit in July or December. Rainfall is exceedingly rare, making Arica one of the driest inhabited places on Earth. Average daily temperatures hover around 30 degrees Celsius.
