Travel plan

Day 1 – London → Calgary, Canada (outbound flight)

Arrive in Alberta and settle in for the night—perhaps a stroll along the Bow River and dinner on Stephen Avenue.

Day 1 to 3 – Banff stay

Mountain air and big vistas. Ride the Banff Gondola for panoramic views, visit Cave & Basin, and take a scenic run to Lake Louise for that famous turquoise shoreline.

Day 3 – Rocky Mountaineer: Banff → Lake Louise → Kamloops

Glass-domed carriages, silver service and storytelling as you trace the Continental Divide. Watch for elk and eagles while the colour of Lake Louise glows en route to Kamloops.

Day 3 to 4 - Kamloops stay

A friendly interior town where river, ranchland and desert meet. Stroll the riverside park or sample local wines from the Thompson Valley.

Day 4 – Rocky Mountaineer: Kamloops → Vancouver

Canyon country gives way to coastal rainforest. Look out for the roaring Fraser Canyon and Hell’s Gate before rolling into the Pacific city.

Day 4 to 7 - Vancouver stay

A perfect city-and-nature mix: cycle Stanley Park’s seawall, browse Granville Island market and ride a floatplane over glittering inlets.

Day 7 – Embarkation day in Vancouver

Board your ship and toast sail-away as the skyline slips by and the Coast Mountains take over the horizon.

Day 8 – Sailing through the Inside Passage, Alaska

A corridor of islands and fjords: keep an eye out for humpbacks, orcas and bald eagles from the rail.

Day 9 – Icy Strait Point, Alaska

Authentic Alaska on Chichagof Island. Walk the coastal trails, meet local Tlingit culture or try a whale-watching cruise.

Day 10 – Scenic cruing by Hubbard Glacier, Alaska

The “Galloping Glacier” in all its blue-white drama. Listen for thunderous calving and feel the chill in the air on deck.

Day 11 – Juneau, Alaska

State capital with wilderness on the doorstep. Visit Mendenhall Glacier, ride the Mount Roberts Tramway and sample fresh halibut or crab.

Day 12 – Ketchikan, Alaska

Totem poles, boardwalks and rainforest charm. Explore Creek Street and, weather permitting, take a floatplane over Misty Fjords.

Day 13 – Sailing through the Inside Passage, Alaska

Another day of ever-changing light and scenery—perfect for a book, a hot drink and binoculars at the ready.

Day 14 – Disembarkation in Vancouver

Step ashore for a final coffee in Gastown or a last stroll along the waterfront before your journey home.

Day 14 to 15 – Vancouver → London (overnight flights)

Fly back with camera-rolls full of glaciers, forests and Pacific sunsets.
