Argentina - Ushuaia
Ushuaia, also called "The End of the World", is one of the world's southernmost cities, located in the Argentinian archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. Over time, the city has served as a penal colony and base for the Argentine navy, but today the city has over 50,000 inhabitants and annually attracts a large number of tourists who come to experience the fantastic landscape and to sail towards Antarctica.
Worth seeing
Tierra del Fuego National Park. If you have time, you should go for a walk in the national park's unique landscape with large lakes, snow-capped mountains and wild animals.
Beagle Canal. Discover penguins and sea lions in the channel that divides the Tierra del Fuego archipelago between Argentina and Chile.
Museo Maritimo. In the buildings of an old prison you can see an exciting collection of history from Tierre del Fuego.
Tren del Fin del Mundo. Take a little train ride on the southernmost railway in the world, from which you can e.g. gets a nice view of the Beagle Channel.
Climate
Subpolar climate with average temperatures of around 2 degrees in the coldest months, May, June, July and August, and around 10 degrees in the hottest months, December, January, February and March.
