Ecuador - Galapagos - Isla De San Cristóbal

Isla de San Cristobal is the westernmost island among the Galapagos Islands and served as the welcoming place for Charles Darwin in 1835. This island emerged from the ocean a little over 2.4 million years ago when four large volcanoes erupted and gave rise to this rocky island. San Cristobal is the highest point in the Galapagos and boasts a population of approximately 6,000 residents, making it the second most populous island in the archipelago. The island is home to numerous unique plant and animal species, including frigatebirds, sea lions, giant tortoises, iguanas, dolphins, and more.

Worth seeing

El Junco Lake: Journey to the highlands of the island to witness the stunning El Junco Lake, which lies within the magnificent crater of an ancient volcano. From the crater's rim, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the expansive lake and a significant portion of the island. This location is also a prime spot for observing the rare and beautiful bird species that inhabit the island.

Climate
The Galápagos Islands, situated on the equator, are a year-round destination. The region experiences two primary seasons. The warmest period spans from December to May, characterized by abundant sunshine and clear skies. The slightly cooler season falls between June and November due to southerly winds, which bring the cold ocean current of the Humboldt Current northward, resulting in cooler seawater temperatures.
